Heidelberg Engineering has paved the way for quantitative retinal imaging in glaucoma management. The Heidelberg Retina Tomograph was the first instrument of its kind available on the market for the routine glaucoma exam. It follows that Heidelberg Engineering has the longest history and the most experience and knowledge of the subject.
The high quality and reproducibility of Heidelbergs products have been proven over time by the accuracy and consistency of glaucoma follow-up exams.
The reason for this is that Heidelberg Engineering has ensured that there is a solid scientific base to all products.
The company has always been involved in basic research projects, and their technical knowledge is unsurpassed. Heidelberg Engineering is an extremely innovative company. It is the integrity of research and consistency of approach that enables their products to be used with confidence in the clinical environment. Optech is proud to be the sole Australian distributor of Heidelberg Enginering's exceptional products as listed below!

The space saving Retinal Camera.
The HRC may be mounted on your slit lamp, free standing or hand held. Imaging options include colour retinal photography (mydriatic & non-mydriatic), fluorescein angiography and red free. The unique scanning slit technology minimises light scatter and ensures excellent picture quality. By interfacing the HRC with a laptop computer it will travel where ever you go.
This ground breaking development provides clinicians with never before seen details of the structure of the retina. The Spectralis detects previously unrecognized structures, combining high resolution cross-sectional images of the retina with any of four imaging modalities: autofluorescence, infrared, fluorescein angiography, or ICG angiography. The new device scans the retina 100 times faster than older existing technology known as time domain OCT. Spectralis HRA+OCT is a spectral domain system, sometimes called fourier domain, which scans the retina at 40,000 scans per second, creating highly detailed images of the structure of the retina.
This is the newly released 3rd generation Heidelberg Retina Tomograph. This instrument is the established leader for Glaucoma and Optic Nerve Head analysis. The HRT3 incorporates new software for Nerve Fibre Layer evaluation and Glaucoma Probabillity Score (GPS).
Changes in hardware configuration including a laptop computer mean that the HRT3 is now a truly portable instrument.
The HRT3 can become a multi diagnostic platform with the additional of optional software modules for Retina & Corneal imaging.
This exciting new instrument will be available from February 2006. Mounted on a standard Haag Streit slit lamp, the SL-OCT offers unprecedented cross sectional images of anterior eye structures.
Allows OCT scanning at any position (360°) with the slit lamp beam as visual verification of the site of the OCT scan
Conveniently stores patient data and provides printed reports for charting and/or patient education
Displays and Prints images in grayscale or false color
